Laureates of GCUA 2030 Award 2025 |

From Afghanistan to MSU and GCUA 2030
|
In this reflection, GCUA 2030 student Latifa Salangi shares her powerful academic and personal journey from Afghanistan to MSU, illustrating how GCUA's Agenda 2030 course has helped her connect the SDGs to lived experience, responsibility, and the realities of inequality, conflict, and resilience.
| | | | | | GCUA 2030 courses The GCUA 2030 courses that began in
September 2025 have now concluded successfully. Around 30 participants
representing nine GCUA 2030 partner universities completed the courses and
received certificates. While most participants were PhD students, this year
also saw increased participation from researchers, other academic staff, and
several MSc students, reflecting a growing interest in the courses across
academic career stages.
GCUA 2030 offers short PhD-level courses free of
charge to students affiliated with a GCUA 2030 university. The courses are
designed to support research that contributes to sustainable development and to
addressing global challenges such as food security, climate change, and
environmental sustainability in line with the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs).

World Food Prize event on rebuilding Ukraine co-hosted by College of Ag Sciences
Leaders from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences helped to lead discussions on rebuilding Ukraine’s agricultural sector during the 2025 World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue, held Oct. 19-25 in Des Moines, Iowa. The World Food Prize event is an annual gathering of international leaders, policymakers, scientists and practitioners who focus on addressing global food security challenges through innovation and collaboration. This year’s theme was “Soilutions for Security.” | SRUC honoured with third Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education
SRUC has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education for the third time, making it one of the few Scottish institutions to have received the honour more than twice. Following previous wins in 2017 and 2023, the latest Queen Elizabeth Prize was presented to SRUC for the impact of the Scottish Farm Business Survey, which has been helping to shape Scottish agricultural policy and practice for almost a century.
