AI expertise to strengthen WIFORCE
WIFORCE researchers will gain access to expertise from AI For Science to explore how AI can help analyse large and complex forest datasets. The collaboration will also contribute to the development of the WIFORCE Data Support Centre.
Researchers test new ways to return ash to forests
Can ash from heating plants be returned to forests in simpler and more resource-efficient ways? In a new field trial, WIFORCE-associated PhD student Linnea Larsson are testing different ways of transporting and spreading ash, while monitoring the effects on soil, water and vegetation.
Twelve proposals have been selected to proceed to Stage 2 of
the WIFORCE Arenas application process. Applicants have been invited to submit
full applications by 6 November. Final decisions on the Arena projects will be

The WIFORCE Data Support Centre is moving from planning into implementation. The team is identifying the first data sources, testing software for the data catalogue and strengthening the organisation with data stewards and a data specialist.
The Swedish Climate Policy Council’s secretariat recently visited WIFORCE researchers to learn more about forest carbon balances, climate impacts and forest resilience. The visit will contribute to the Council’s work ahead of its 2027 report to the Swedish Government.
